The ever increasing quality of 35mm digital
cameras means that many smaller scale product shots can be successfully captured
electronically using this type of camera. However, until now, lack of
lens movements has meant critical product shots had to be made by expensive
studio type digital backs attached to a technical camera.
The Horseman VCC offers lens shifts as well as depth of field control, allowing a 35mm
digital camera to produce professional results.
Traditionally the depth of field needed in an image is created by stopping down the
camera lens. CCD arrays are more prone to diffraction blur caused by using small lens apertures
than
is the case with film, so wide lens apertures need to be used. By using the lens panel tilt of the Horseman VCC, image quality is greatly
increased as extended depth of field can be achieved at wider lens apertures.
Any technical camera lens with a flange focal distance between 90mm and 300mm
mounted in a #0 or #1 shutter can be used with the Horseman VCC. In practice this is from
approximately 80mm focal length upwards. A highly optically corrected
digital high resolution lens is especially suitable for
use with full frame CCD digital cameras.
The Horseman VCC system also offers a range of matched Rodenstock Rodagon lenses.
The Horseman VCC attaches to the host 35mm SLR body via a special adapter ring.
Adapters are available for Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Contax, Olympus, Pentax and Leica
cameras.
